Program Partners

Our program partners join with us in the development and delivery of innovative programs and research. Combining our skills and resources enriches our service to the field.

Cultural Dynamics Working Group

NAS teamed up with the Bolz Center for Arts Administration and Cultural Initiatives Silicon Valley to create the Cultural Dynamics Working Group. This collaborative project explores the application of systems thinking in the arts, mapping the arts and culture ecosystem to provide insight and provoke conversation among arts leaders. The resulting Cultural Dynamics Map was published in 2005.

The Cultural Policy Center

The Cultural Policy Center at The Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago is researching America’s cultural infrastructure. The research examines the impact of capital projects on arts and culture organizations and their communities. NAS will be working with them to develop management tools based on the research to help organizations understand and evaluate the implications and effects of taking on new capital projects.

Getty Leadership Institute

NAS partners with the Getty Leadership Institute to bring together leaders from around the world for convenings on timely issues. The aim of this work is to bring insight and create thinking networks around specific topics. In 2004, NAS and GLI worked together on a two day symposium about how creative teams are managed in the for profit and nonprofit arts. In 2007, we worked together on a symposium on leisure time in the United States. Review the publications generated from these convenings on our publications page, or visit the Getty Leadership Institute to read about their work.

National Performing Arts Convention

NAS developed a unique executive education program to begin the 2008 National Performing Arts Convention. Three full-day sessions were created, inspired by the NPAC theme "Taking Action Together" and led by top university faculty. Each session focused on a key challenge to achieving mission in our richly connected communities including selecting effective partners and creating sustained relationships with local and national corporations.

Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan

The Ross School of Business and NAS have begun a three-year partnership to develop and deliver The Chief Executive Series™, an invitation-only residential program for 25 leaders from the most outstanding arts and cultural institutions in the country.

Stanford Graduate School of Business Center for Social Innovation

NAS and the Stanford Graduate School of Business Center for Social Innovation (CSI) joined forces in 2001 to present the Executive Program for Nonprofit Leaders – Arts (EPNL–Arts). NAS and the CSI believe in the critical role arts and cultural organizations play in society, and through the EPNL-Arts program we invested in exceptional individual leaders and created a vibrant network of skilled professionals serving our field.
